Neoclassical house designs became a dominant style in the nation between 1900-1940. Inspired by the Beaux-Arts style and the Columbian Exposition, their most recognizable features include symmetrical shapes, tall columns, a domed roof, and classic ornament. Basically,Neoclassical House Plans are a revival of the classic architecture of Greece and Rome. The word "Neoclassical" is often described as an architectural style, but actually it is not one distinct style. It is more of an approach to design and describes several different styles. In fact, there are many variations of Neoclassical house plans including the Federalist and Idealist styles.
