Santa Fe style home plans are a pillar of their geographic roots. Just as California has Mission style homes, New Mexico adopted these house designs. New Mexico wanted to distinguish itself from the image of California, so the development of their own house design was thought of as a method to attract tourism and promote the state’s identity.Santa Fe House Plans were basically created from a mixture of Spanish, Colonial, and Indian Pueblo architecture featuring flat roofs, irregular rounded edge walls, a stucco surface and often vigas (round log ceiling beams).
